1000 Rides Health Conference

On Saturday October 28, 2017, NCBW will sponsor “Health Initiative Day” Conference at Davis Arts and Academics School located at 35 Davis Street New Haven, CT at 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.  This will be a free health conference open to the community to learn about prevention, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, diabetes, childhood obesity and heart disease.  At 11:00 a.m. there will be panel discussion with Yale Smilow Breast Cancer Physicians, Breast Surgeon from St. Vincent’s Medical Center, and other Community Leaders.  Community members can participate in Zumba, a healthy lunch and more.  Chairperson Valerie King states that the concept of “One Thousand Rides” is both literal and symbolic of the support we want to provide those women undergoing treatment. “We want women to know that they are not alone and that we are with them emotionally” states King. “It is a ride to wellness.”
