Beach Cleanup, Sandy Point, West Haven
Sponsored by: Save The Sound
Connecticut residents are rallying once again this year to help Save the Sound and The Ocean Conservancy clean up our beautiful Long Island shoreline as part of International Coastal Cleanup Day, Saturday, September 15th, 2012. In an effort to raise public awareness about the ever-growing problem of marine debris, Save the Sound is helping local volunteers organize beach cleanups in their towns for The Ocean Conservancy’s worldwide event.
The Ocean Conservancy began International Coastal Cleanup 25 years ago to tackle the growing amount of marine debris washing up on our beaches. Now every U.S. state and territory participates, as do 100 countries around the globe.
Dr. Robert Marra, who has been organizing the West Haven cleanup for several years now, is joined by the Land Trust of West Haven for this year’s cleanup.
