Bright Star

Sponsored by: Shubert Theatre

From Grammy, Emmy and Academy Award-winning Steve Martin and Grammy Award-winning Edie Brickell comes BRIGHT STAR, the five-time Tony-nominated new Broadway musical that The New York Times called “a shining achievement.” Directed by Tony-winner Walter Bobbie and inspired by a real event, this original musical tells a sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and ‘40s. Propelled by an ensemble of onstage musicians and dancers, the story unfolds as a rich tapestry of deep emotion, beautiful melodies and powerfully moving performances. BRIGHT STAR – as refreshingly genuine as it is daringly hopeful – is “Broadway’s most beautiful show” (WABC). “A gorgeous anthem to optimism!” – Variety

THIS IS A RAIN OR SHINE EVENT

At Treasured Time, our goal is to help grant the wishes of parents with life-threatening medical conditions, who seek to create a memorable family experience, during an incredibly difficult time in their life. Our unique approach is in understanding the value of getting to know our families well, so that we can come to appreciate what really matters to them most.

Together we work to develop creative adventures and once-in-a-life-time experiences. These experiences will be the building blocks that create lasting memories for our families for years to come. The team at Treasured Time wants families to be given the opportunity to laugh a bit harder, love a bit more, and fondly remember the “gift of moments” forever.

Our featured family and “Gift of Moments” recipients for this event are the Stanton Family. Tim Stanton, age 46 of Stratford, CT was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in February 2017. At the time of his diagnosis it had spread to his liver and lymph nodes. Tim met with a surgeon in March 2017, who removed a 10cm mass from his colon, 10 inches of his colon and seventeen out of twenty-five lymph nodes. At the time of his diagnosis in February, the tumor mass on his colon was measuring at 6 cm indicating this is a fast growing cancer.

Tim started chemo in April 2017. He had the choice to start with a more basic chemo but opted to go for a more aggressive form of treatment. He had four rounds on this aggressive chemo and unfortunately his scans showed negative results. There were no improvements to his colon or his liver metastases. If Tim’s next set of scans do not show favorable results they will begin exploring clinical trials that may help to slow down the progression of the cancer.

Tim has three children Alanna, age 24, and twin boys Blake and Lucas, age 6. His eldest daughter Alanna is a huge support for him and takes him to doctor’s appointments and helps with the boys and chores around the house even though she doesn’t live there. Missy, his wife can’t take much time off since she just started a new job at Teddy’s Transportation.

Their family isn’t local but they have received a lot of community support in the way of babysitting and food trains. Tim and his family spend a lot of time maximizing on creating memories together by spending any free time they have together. Tim would love the opportunity to take his family to Disney and explore the magic it has to offer. Tim isn’t sure what the future holds but would love to give them this opportunity before he is unable too.

Treasured Time, Inc. is a CT based 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to grant the wishes of parents with life threatening illnesses who want to create a lasting memory with their children. With your help, Treasured Time, Inc. can provide families with the “Gift of Moments”. To see how you can help us make a difference, visit us at www.treasuredtime.org.

Introduction to Reiki

Sponsored by: Elm City Wellness

Intro to Reiki
$25
(can apply towards Reiki 1)

Many people are practicing techniques to improve their health such as meditation, exercise and improved diet. As this is done, a deeper awareness often develops concerning the flow of subtle energies in and around the body and the connection between these subtle energies and one’s health. The existence of life force energy, and the necessity for it to flow freely in and around one’s body to maintain health, has been studied and acknowledged by health care practitioners and scientists.
