Fellowship Place’s Expressive Arts Festival May 4, 2017

Sponsored by: Fellowship Place

Fellowship Place is pleased to invite the general public to the agency’s 2nd Annual Expressive Arts Festival, supported by the City of New Haven Mayor’s Community Arts Grants Program, and held as part of the New Haven community’s celebration of “May is Mental Health Awareness Month”.
The event is scheduled for May 4, 2017, at 5:00 pm, on Fellowship Place’s campus, located at 441 Elm Street in New Haven. Free and open to the public, this very unique event will feature exhibits of original artwork, live musical performances, and live poetry readings, created and performed by our clients. Refreshments presented by Fellowship Place’s Kitchen will highlight the talents of our Supported Employment program’s Food Services Training. Held as part of the New Haven community’s celebration of “May is Mental Health Awareness Month”, Fellowship Place sees this event as a unique opportunity to promote the artistic talents of participants in our agency’s Expressive Arts program, while creating awareness in helping to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness in our community.  The expressive arts, including visual arts, writing, and music groups, are used to help program participants express their creativity, build self-confidence, and develop coping skills.
We are also thrilled to partner with The South Central Connecticut Regional Mental Health Board and MINDMAP CT. The South Central Connecticut Regional Mental Health Board will host an information table on resources and services available throughout Connecticut. MindMap CT will host an information table on the early detection and treatment of psychotic disorders.
Fellowship Place seeks to help adults with mental illness lead more meaningful, fulfilling and healthy lives by offering resources, education, and opportunity.  The agency provides a wide range of services, including supportive counseling and case management, supported housing, job training and career development services, social & physical recreation programs, expressive arts therapy, and skill building groups.  More than 750 people a year are served.
