David Mamet’s debut as a film director and a dazzlingly entertaining blend of film noir, mystery, psychological thriller, and dark comedy. A respectable psychiatrist descends into the sleazy world of con artists, and the audience is swept along into con games within con games. Roger Ebert: “This movie is awake. I have seen so many films that were sleepwalking through the debris of old plots and second-hand ideas that it was a constant pleasure to watch HOUSE OF GAMES.” The cast includes Lindsay Crouse, Joe Mantegna, J.T. Walsh, William H. Macy, and Ricky Jay.
