In Concert ~ Marcel and Beyons the Sun

Sponsored by: Shoreline Arts Alliance

The Shoreline Arts Alliance continues its 25+ year history of bringing free outdoor summer entertainment to the Guilford Green.  Come and enjoy Marcel & Beyond the Sun, who will be bringing smooth jazz to Guilford as we celebrate the 4th of July weekend.  The concerts are family-friendly and picnicking is encouraged.  In the event of rain the concert will take place in the Guilford Community Center, 32 Church Street (just off the Green).  Parking is free around the Green and in the town lots.

Marcel & Beyond the Sun is a Jazz Quartet with a play list that includes most of the jazz greats – Miles Davis, Ron Carter, Elvin Jones, Thelonius Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker to name a few.  They play jazz with a contemporized edge using multimedia and guest vocalists.  Many of their performances have brought awareness to special causes and many non-profit organizations across the country.

Marcel Blanchett, drummer, recording artist and motivational speaker studied at the Berklee School of Music where he became involved in and studied Commercial Jingle writing.  Eventually this led him into recording drums and percussion for others and touring and playing drums in the Broadway shows Ain’t Misbehavin’, Guys and Dolls, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat.  He has worked with recording artists Richard Williams, Tony Chance, the Ink Spots, Eddie Fisher and The Platters.  Currently, Marcel is in demand as a drum clinician and motivational speaker, where he helps strengthen attitudes and builds creativity.

Join the Shoreline Arts Alliance for a casual evening on the Green and some stellar jazz.  Performing with Marcel will be Mike Asetta, bass, Brian Leary, piano, Ralph DeLucia and Peter Blanchet, guitar, Katrina Cain, Lana Peck, Joell Jacob, vocals.
