New Haven Tree Lighting Ceremony

Sponsored by: New Haven Department of Arts, Culture & Tourism

Downtown New Haven comes alive with cheer Thursday, December 1 as the lighting of the tree kicks off the holiday season. The evening celebration brings hundreds of families and friends together in the heart of the City on its historic Green and is free of charge. The event hosted by WTNH/My TV9’s Gil Simmons will feature live choral performances by Celentano Museum Academy, Mauro Sheridan Magnet School, Brennan-Rogers School and the Educational Center for the Arts Vocal Ensemble. Special guest appearances by Santa, Ronald McDonald and others.

From 4-8pm, children have their choice of free rides- a carousel, “Lucy” the Polar Bear and “Storm the Reindeer” both life-sized mechanical animals.  Visitors can also enjoy holiday crafting, take a photo in a “Winter Wonderland” setting or hop on a carriage ride around the Green.

Presented by the City of New Haven Department of Arts, Culture & Tourism and Department Parks Recreation and Trees. For more information visit www.cityofnewhaven.com/CulturalAffairs/or contact (203) 946-7172.
