NEW HAVEN, CONN. (Nov. 11, 2017)—The New Haven Veterans Day Ceremony will be at the Center Church on the Green (250 Temple Street) on November 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a wreath laying on the World War Memorial and flagpole on the New Haven Green.
New Haven native and decorated Army Captain Charise Hewitt will be the principal speaker. Capt. Hewitt served eight years in the U.S. Army, largely managing multimodal logistics for the 4th Brigade of the 10th Mountain Division, so they could deploy, engage, and destroy the enemies of the United States of America. She served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from 2013-2014 at FOB Fenty at the Jalalabad Airport in Afghanistan, and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for her outstanding command achievements. She is currently the Junior-Vice Commander of the Veteran of Foreign Wars New Haven Post 12150.

Under the direction of Lillie Perkins, the Unity Boys Choir will perform during the ceremony; additionally, James Namnoum, chaplain of the VFW New Haven, will offer the Veterans Day Prayer. Ruth Rosa will be the soloist and Peter Cannon will perform “Taps.”
Following the ceremony at Center Church, commemorative wreaths will be placed at the World War Memorial and at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Long Wharf Drive.
