Yale Jazz Ensemble presents “Homegrown: Jazz by Yale Composers”

The Yale Jazz Ensemble, directed by Thomas C. Duffy, will present a concert of jazz by Yale composers at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at Morse Recital Hall in Sprague Memorial Hall, 470 College St, New Haven. Music includes Express Delivery by Yale School of Music composition student and Assistant to the YJE Director Garth Neustadter (MM ’12); Tuk Tuk’n by YJE freshman and pianist Lamtharn (Hanoi) Hantrakul (MC ‘15); Salsa En Mi Alma by Yale College and School of Music alumnus and bassist Jeff Fuller (BA ‘67, MM ‘69); Ravel’s String Quartet in F Major, arranged for jazz ensemble by Yale School of Music alumnus and YJE trumpeter Tom Bergeron (MM ’08, AD ‘09); A Little R & B by Yale alumnus Mike Paulsen (MAR & JD ‘85); and 2 charts—Portnoy’s Complaint and Dutch Treat—by Yale School of Music alumnus Tim Olsen (MM ’88, MA ’89, AD ’95).
