Songs of Our Seafaring Traditions presented by rick Spencer

This program is part of the Library’s Adult Summer Series, Monday Evening Escapes and Escapades. Rick Spencer, Historic Music Entertainer will present. Participants will be taken back to the period from the 1790’s to the 1930’s through a collection of songs that have been passed down through the years. The program has a local connection and will include a reference to and a song about Derby-born maritime hero, Isaac Hull. Spencer worked at Mystic Seaport for over 20 years and is recognized internationally as a authority on the history and presentation of maritime songs and chanteys from the American traditions. Registration is requested. All 2012 Library summer programming is being made possible through the generous sponsorship of the Jane C. and David B. Cohen Fund through the Valley Community Foundation in memory of David B. Cohen.
