Details | The Seymour Library welcomes Annie O’Brien from the Connecticut Museum of Culture & History (formerly the Connecticut Historical Society)to tell the story of how the tavern became the community centers in Colonial New England. Located in the center of a settlement near the meeting house the taverns were more than just a place to drink. Travelers and locals alike saw taverns as a place to be entertained, spread news and gossip, have a good meal and get a night’s lodging. Come to learn how taverns were an essential part of every Connecticut town. For more information about this free program please call the Library at 203 – 888-3903.
