Eating Wild at Long Wharf
Sponsored by: The New Haven Land Trust
Curious about new ways to identify and use wild foods ? Ever wondered if you could eat that weed ?! Come forage with us on Long Wharf Nature Preserve! Both native and invasive plants will surprise you - even in urban areas, tasty and nutritious species abound. Justin Freiberg, Director of the Yale Landscape Lab, will guide us as we explore the rich variety of edible plants on the New Haven shoreline. We will learn about edible plant species, get a very literal taste of our urban green spaces, and hang out in our beautiful preserve. This is a great chance to think differently about growing food in our communities - sometimes it’s not always in raised beds!
