Far and Wide by Marjie Wolfe

Sponsored by: Kehler Liddell Gallery

OPENING RECEPTION: Sunday, March 25th, 3-6pm; CLOSING EVENT: Sunday, April 22nd, 1-4pm, w/ artist talk @ 2pm

The work in Marjorie Wolfe’s latest collection of photographs was either composed on a recent trip to Italy, or on her favorite island, Martha’s Vineyard; all are spare, simple compositions presented in similar formats. Wolfe explains: “Panoramas and composite photographs are meant to unfold a wide world where separate images are arranged to form a single view. … They show more than what our eyes let us see in one glance, but that we know is there.”

Marjorie Gillette Wolfe has been a photographer for four decades, and was an art teacher for 37 years. A New Haven native, her work often centers on structures, landscape, organic processes, and the environments in which they occur. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rhode Island School of Design and a Master’s degree from Wesleyan University. Wolfe was a 2012 recipient of the CT Artist Fellowship.
