Seniors take back the stage! The Stray Kats Theatre Company presents the “Still Crazy After All These Years! New Play Festival” in Hamden, Ct. and Newtown, Ct. consisting of eight new one-act plays culled from over 500 submissions, celebrating passionate, lively seniors whose lives have taken hilarious new twists and turns.
The Festival opens with a three performance run in Newtown, Ct., home of the Stray Kats Theatre Company, a professional, non-profit company, followed by three more performances in Hamden, Ct. at the Whitney Center. “Our goal was to create more good roles for older actors and more great theater for all ages!” says festival Co-producer and New Haven resident, Tom Coash.
The Festival aims to do just that with eight fantastic new one-act plays, written by a group of multi-award winning playwrights, including plays by the playwright-producers, Kate Katcher and Tom Coash (Winner of awards from the American Theatre Critics Association and the Kennedy Center). “We’re very excited with the high caliber of writing from playwrights around the country!” says Katcher. The eight short plays include 18 roles for a terrific blend of locally cast professional and non-professional actors, all seniors themselves. The show is funny, thought-provoking, and family friendly.
Newtown performances take place at Fraser Woods Montessori School, 173 South Main St, Newtown: Friday – Sunday, May 5 & 6 at 7:30, May 7 at 2pm.
