10 am – 3 pm The Digital Economist Summit - Global Innovation for Accountable Systems
The Digital Economist Summit - Global Innovation for Accountable Systems
10:00am - 3:00pm
This June, The Digital Economist hosts its bi‑annual summit as a global lab focused on turning new institutional blueprints into concrete action: an open invitation for leaders and practitioners to help implement the “terms of trust” that should govern our most consequential systems. Building directly on the accountability frameworks co‑created in Washington, DC, this summit convenes practitioners, policymakers, and community leaders from across regions to pressure‑test those designs through action, pilots, use‑cases, and implementation pathways. Interactive roundtable sessions will center on narrative frameworks, practical tools, participatory models, and transparency standards that participants can adopt, adapt, or co‑develop in their own contexts to strengthen accountability in how intelligence, value, and critical services are designed and delivered. With particular attention to those most impacted by systemic shifts, the virtual format is intentionally chosen to broaden access and shared ownership, inviting attendees not only to discuss what accountable systems should look like, but to commit to concrete actions, coalitions, and prototypes that will feed back into in‑person convenings at Davos, UNGA, Climate Week, and beyond. Her fifth studio album, Zenzile: The Reimagination of Miriam Makeba, is a companion project to the critically acclaimed original musical “Dreaming Zenzile” that Somi also wrote and starred in Off-Broadway as a tribute to the great South African singer and activist. Prior to Zenzile and at the height of the 2020 global lockdown, Somi released an unplanned live album called Holy Room featuring the Frankfurt Radio Big Band that ultimately earned her a 2021 Grammy® nomination for Best Jazz Vocal Album and made her the first African woman ever nominated in any of the Grammy® jazz categories. The Mercy Velvet Project
7:30pm - 9:00pm
The 1999 album, Live in Vain by Mercy Velvet, exists on zero streaming platforms, and few people have heard it…until now. The Mercy Velvet Project (premiere June 2026) is an embodied re-creation of the album. The work explores what makes us human, our collective need for community to survive—with musicians and dancers moving as one. Through nine songs in their original order, a queer and femme cast explore different barriers to experiencing love. Learning that by giving and receiving the gift of mercy, we are able to find the bridge to survival, wholeness, and hope. Over twenty-five years after the albums’ release, kamrDANCE and their collaborators expand upon its legacy through their personal identities and today’s political realities. The show tells the story of the album through tap dance as percussion, contemporary dance, original text, and instrumentation via bass, guitar, vocals, and electronics—highlighting our vulnerabilities, learning together how to find the antidote that is mercy, and in turn lead meaningful lives.
