Details | Linda will demonstrate the art of “Nuno” Felting. Nuno Felting is a very environmentally friendly, wet felting process that only uses water and a goat oil soap. Designs are created by adding merino wool, vintage silk and other natural fibers. The soap is the glue that pushes these fibers together; interlocking the materials. Linda’s felting engages many mediums that, she admits, keeps her from becoming bored. She’s a self taught textile artist; who has a degree in visual arts and graphic design. To understand the art of felting, Linda has attended museum classes and was taught the basic process, but later decided that the only way she was going to excel on her own; was by exploring the process of felting. By way of experimentation; she has made felting mistakes. But this trial and error has provided Linda with the skills to master of this felting process. She states that a few of these mistakes created bohemian pieces that were well received by customers and followers of her wearable art. Linda has compared this medium to her abstract paintings and states “The materials and process controls itself; creating a “one of a kind wearable piece of art. You’ll never pass yourself on the street”, she laughs. The Cheshire Art League, in cooperation with the Cheshire Library, hosts art talks and demonstrations on the first Wednesday of every month for all to enjoy.
