Details | Wu Dang Kung Fu Academy and Aiping Tai Chi will host a ribbon cutting celebration to mark the opening of the New England Asian American Cultural Center located at 49 Research Drive, Milford, CT, 06460. The ribbon cutting is co-hosted by the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce. The ceremony will be held on Friday, August 19 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The keynote speaker is Dr. Henry Lee, one of the world’s foremost forensic scientists and founder of the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science. The newly established New England Asian American Cultural Center (NEAACC) will be jointly operated by Wu Dang Kung Fu Academy and Aiping Tai Chi, two of Connecticut’s leaders in Chinese martial arts instruction, health and wellness activities, and cultural education. The facility is 6,600 sq ft with an open space over 5,000 sq ft that will be used for martial arts and fitness training as well as flexible space for a wide range of events. Asian Americans are Connecticut’s fastest growing racial or ethnic group, accounting for more than half of Connecticut’s population growth in this past decade. Earlier this year, Connecticut made history by being the first state in the nation to mandate teaching Asian American and Pacific Islander history in public schools. The New England Asian American Cultural Center will serve as a premiere destination in New England for Asian American cultural programming including school field trips and community events. The center will provide a place for Connecticut’s AAPI community to celebrate and share their rich and diverse culture.
