Details | Greater New Haven NCNW Founder’s Day honors the work of the seven leaders who founded the Concerned Citizens for the Greater New Haven Dixwell “Q” Community House. They are Jacqueline Bracey, Carroll E. Brown, Janet Parker, Curlena McDonald, Bea Dozier Taylor, and posthumously, Frances Russell and Mary Russell. Their nearly 20 years of perseverance, community voice and commitment were foundational to ensuring the rebuilding of the Dixwell Community “Q” House remained on the radar of the community and political officials. We will also present the Mills-Poole & Essie-Jane Book Award Scholarships to two deserving high school seniors, Sarah Murray and Sciana Vertusma. Our guest speaker will be Dr. Shelley M. Jones, Ph.D., professor and author of “Women Who Count:Honoring African American Women Mathematicians”.
