New print! A hack screenwriter hides out at a fading film star’s decaying compound in a black comedy that Andrew Sarris called the best Hollywood movie ever made about Hollywood”. Stellar performances by Gloria Swanson, William Holden, and Erich von Stroheim earned them three of the film’s eleven Oscar nominations. 35mm print from the Yale Film Archive.
