Hamden Symphony Spring Concert - "Global Harmony"

Details This performance will highlight a wide-array of symphonic music written from 1844 to 2023 by seven composers, spanning three continents; each of whom have brought their unique ideas, experiences and perspectives to each note of their music. The all-volunteer Hamden Symphony Orchestra is made up of over 70 musicians from the community who donate their time and talents each week to make music together and bring life to these compositions.The four virtuosic winners of Hamden Symphony’s 53rd Young Musicians Concerto Competition will each be featured soloists with the Orchestra; Braeden Shizume (Piano), Harry Tao (Cello), Mark Yan (Erhu) and Mindy Zhao (Violin) will perform works by Grieg, Saint-Saens, Zhanhao & Gang, and Mendelssohn, respectively. Composed for the Hamden Symphony Orchestra, this performance will mark the premiere of Prelude for Orchestra” by Mark Kuss, a Professor of Music at Southern Connecticut State University. The raucous Roman Carnival Overture” of Hector Berlioz, and dazzling Dance Espagnole # 1 by Manuel de Falla will round out this exciting program. No tickets are required in advance.
