Workshop: Portraits in Watercolor with Jeanne Carol Potter

Sun May 5, 12 – 4 pm

Hosted by Hamden Art League
Details In this watercolor workshop with Jeanne Carol Potter, you will discover how the delicate translucency and speed of watercolor is ideally suited to capturing light, shadow and form of the face. There will be an emphasis on using the watercolor medium including correct brushwork and an effective water/pigment ratio. Learn how to mix fresh and vibrant color combinations for skin tones and hair color along with the ability to see value as color. Anatomy of the structure of the head and face will be discussed. Learn how to capture a likeness through careful interpretation of what one sees. Jeanne will have copies of the photo she is painting from for all participants to use or you may bring in a photo of your choosing to paint from as long as it is good quality and the head is 7 – 8 inches in height. Following Jeanne’s demo, she will give individual attention to each member in the workshop.
