CACTUS QUEEN
By Doug Robinson

It’s been 40 days since Queenie buried her son, Ordell, who was shot and killed by a police officer. 40 days of protest. 40 days of grief. 40 days of constant, unrelenting rain. A play of mothers and sons, sisters and boyfriends, lemons and plums, Cactus Queen is about burials — the kind that happen year after year after year. Isn’t it time, finally, for something to grow?
