Details | Join us at the New Haven Peoples Center on July 19th at 5PM to learn and talk about the fight to fund public education in Connecticut. We’ll have a presentation on the school funding system in Connecticut followed by a discussion co-presented by Leslie Blatteau, President of the New Haven Federation of Teachers, by Megan Fountain, Education Justice Organizer of the New Haven Federation of Teachers, and David Green, a Youth Activist and student from the Young Communist League. Following our discussion, we will have a call to action and send emails to our city alders. Pizza will be provided! Following the discussion, in honor of Nelson Mandela International Day, we watch Sarafina! at 7PM, a film about the struggle of youth and educators in apartheid South Africa for a quality and just education for all. The film will be presented by Hyll Jean-Bart, a scholar of public health. |
