Sarafina! Fight for Public Education Presenation and Film

Details Join us at the New Haven Peoples Center on July 19th at 5PM to learn and talk about the fight to fund public education in Connecticut. We’ll have a presentation on the school funding system in Connecticut followed by a discussion co-presented by Leslie Blatteau, President of the New Haven Federation of Teachers, by Megan Fountain, Education Justice Organizer of the New Haven Federation of Teachers, and David Green, a Youth Activist and student from the Young Communist League. Following our discussion, we will have a call to action and send emails to our city alders. Pizza will be provided!
Following the discussion, in honor of Nelson Mandela International Day, we watch Sarafina! at 7PM, a film about the struggle of youth and educators in apartheid South Africa for a quality and just education for all. The film will be presented by Hyll Jean-Bart, a scholar of public health.
