Details | While the Muppets might not be synonymous with historic preservation, the 2011 comedy musical film “The Muppets” seemed a natural choice for a collaborative event by the New Haven Museum and the New Haven Preservation Trust (NHPT) on the lawn of the Pardee-Morris House, on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 2 p.m. All ages are welcome to laugh along with this family film (rated PG). For weather updates check FB/IG or call 203 – 562-4183. The National Trust for Historic Preservation included “The Muppets” on its list of 15 Awesome Preservation-Themed Movies. During the madcap caper, a devoted Muppet fan reunites the gang to help save the Muppet Theater from Tex Richman, a businessman who plans to demolish it to drill for oil. Former NHPT president Rona Johnston will make a few introductory remarks before the film. She notes she has dreamt of a NHPT gathering at the Pardee-Morris House since she first visited the Morris Cove setting that is brimming with history. “We hope visitors will see that saving old buildings is important for everyone, young and old, human and Muppet,” says Johnston. “We also hope those attending will get to know the Preservation Trust in a lighter-hearted mode.” |
