Details | THE BEGUILED (Don Siegel, 1971, 35mm, 105 mins) Angelica Page in person! Geraldine Page is headmistress of a Mississippi girls’ school during the Civil War, and Clint Eastwood is a wounded Union soldier whose arrival throws the place into a tizzy. With black humor and suspense, this Southern Gothic melodrama is “a triumph of style, totally engrossing and utterly convincing” (Kevin Thomas). 35mm print from the Harvard Film Archive. The “Page 100” series is a celebration of the centenary of actress Geraldine Page, presented by the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library and the Yale Film Archive. |
