Details | THE GREEN FOG (Guy Maddin, Evan Johnson, & Galen Johnson, 2017, DCP, 63 mins) This audacious recreation of VERTIGO using found footage taken from other films and TV shows set in San Francisco is “the work of a sensibility as impish as it is scholarly, animated by a mischievous sense of the medium’s possibilities” (Justin Chang). It toys with “reality and representation, time and space, genre and gender” (Geoff Andrew) with thoroughly entertaining results. Followed by a 30-minute talk by Brian Meacham on VERTIGO’s preservation history. DCP from The Festival Agency. The “VertiGoals” film series is devoted to Hitchcock’s VERTIGO and a selection of films it inspired. |
