Discussion With Executive Director of IRIS on Federal Funding Cuts

Mon Mar 17 , 6:30 – 8:30 pm

Hosted by Humanist Association of Connecticut
Details You may have heard that Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services (IRIS) has been in the news lately — one of the many organizations hit by federal funding cuts. You might be surprised to discover that families in need of their services are still arriving. Join us to learn how funding cuts are impacting them, how they’re adapting, and ways we can help.

Executive Director of IRIS since January 2024, Maggie Mitchell Salem has a 30-year career in civic education, intercultural dialogue, and refugee support. She has led programs globally, including at Qatar Foundation International and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems, and holds degrees from Georgetown and Johns Hopkins. She lives in East Haddam with her four children and pets.

We are very pleased to have Maggie join us for the monthly meeting of the HAC. We usually start with half an hour of coffee and conversation at 6:30 PM, followed by the main program after brief announcements at 7:00 PM.
