| Details | Master one of the most efficient structural joints in modern woodworking. This hands-on workshop introduces the core mechanics behind using a Domino joiner, a powerful tool designed to create fast, exceptionally strong loose tenon joints. You will learn how to accurately layout workpieces, set up the machine, and align mortises, leaving with the practical skills and confidence needed to speed up your furniture making and frame construction. What to Expect This is a hands-on, shop-based workshop focused on precise alignment and efficient joinery workflows. You will interact directly with the Domino joiner and shop machinery as you practice setting reference edges, cutting matching mortises across joints, and selecting the correct tenon sizes. We will spend time testing joint tolerances, managing stock alignment, and going over proper glue-up and clamping strategies. By the end of class, you will have a finished test joint to take home for future reference. Skills You’ll Acquire Joint Layout and Reference Lines: Marking accurate centerlines and index points across matching timber faces. Machine Operation and Setup: Adjusting fence angles, plunge depths, and mortise width settings for precise cuts. Loose Tenon Fitting: Selecting, sizing, and indexing tenons for maximum joint strength and alignment. Assembly and Clamping: Managing glue coverage and clamp pressure to ensure flush, square assemblies. What’s Provided All wood stock required for practice and test joint assembly. Access to shop machinery, layout tools, and Domino Joiners. Safety equipment and workspace accommodations.
