| Details | The Yale Symphony Orchestra opens its 2026 – 27 season on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 7:30pm in Woolsey Hall, with YSO Director Elizabeth Askren leading a program featuring Maurice Ravel’s ‘Le Tombeau de Couperin’, Shawn Okpebholo’s ‘The Sky Between’ *second public performance — Connecticut premiere!*, Carl Maria von Weber’s ‘Overture to Der Freischütz’, and Paul Hindemith’s ‘Symphonic Metamorphosis on Themes of Carl Maria von Weber’. Violinist Heather Wittels, a 2005 graduate of Yale College, joins the orchestra as featured soloist. As part of a short complementary residence, composer Shawn Okpebholo will be giving a public talk on October 2nd at 11am in Sudler Hall (WLH 201, 100 Wall Street) on creating, sharing art, and what it means to be a classical composer in 2026. |
