Join us for a fascinating discussion with philosopher Justin Garson, author of The Madness Pill: One Doctor’s Quest to Understand Schizophrenia (St. Martin’s Press, 2026). The book tells the true story of a group of doctors in the 1960s who set out to find a drug that could make someone temporarily insane, and how their discovery changed mental health. Justin also writes for Psychology Today, Aeon, and Mad in America about humanistic alternatives to mainstream psychiatry. He will be in conversation with library staff, followed by a Q&A.
