Tue Nov 24 , 6 – 9 pm

Details Every home chef knows that a custom wooden spatula is an indispensable kitchen tool! In this beginner friendly woodworking class, you will design, shape, and finish a custom hardwood spatula built to handle everything from sautéing to serving. It is the perfect project for anyone looking to learn fundamental woodworking techniques while crafting a beautiful, food safe utensil for their home.
What to Expect
This standalone skill class is a great introduction to the woodshop. You will start with a solid hardwood blank and follow a guided process to map out, cut, shape, and finish your spatula. We will move from power tools for initial rough shaping to hand-refinement, ensuring the handle is ergonomic and the bevel edge is angled perfectly for cooking. By the end of the session, you will leave with a custom, food safe wooden utensil ready for your kitchen.
Skills You’ll Acquire
Template Transfer and Layout: Learning how to map out a comfortable handle and functional edge onto a wood workpiece.
Power Tool Shaping: Safely using shop machinery to cut out the rough profile of your tool.
Hand Tool Refinement: Using rasps, files, or hand tools to contour the handle and craft a smooth, functional bevel.
Fine Finishing: Mastering hand sanding techniques and applying food-safe oils for a durable, water-resistant surface.
