Details | Using old and recycled books, participants will create poems through the process of erasure. Also known as “blackout poetry,” this process involves altering books using a combination of drawing, collage, and mixed techniques to cover, change, or add elements. After creating the content, students will deconstruct the books to create new book structures, using the original materials combined with additional paper, cloth, and thread. Book structures explored in this workshop will include the traditional codex, stab binding, accordion books, as well as more sculptural approaches. |
