New Haven’s Kallos Chamber Music Series returns to the stage for in-person performances this fall following last season’s all-virtual programming. Now entering its fourth season, Kallos has crafted in-person programs that it hopes will uplift listeners, help them heal, and inspire reflection on the historic events of the last 18 months. This season’s opening night is set for Tuesday, September 14th at 7:30pm at the First Presbyterian Church of New Haven. Making their Kallos debut, the award-winning Ulysses String Quartet will join Kallos Artistic Director and pianist Min Young Kang for a program of music born out of struggle and hardship, including a 2020 work by Jesse Montgomery written during the COVID-19 lockdown. Each piece, conceived in a space of immense struggle and hardship, takes us on a revelatory journey through sound, structure, and harmony, conveying the composer’s utmost intimate voyage to joy, beauty, and triumph. Tickets start at $25 and can be purchased at www.kalloscms.org or at the door.
