Details | In collaboration with JIB Productions, producers of Fairfield County’s lunchtime theater program, Play With Your Food, the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum will present Seasons Readings on Sun., Dec. 12, 3 – 5 p.m. “The Board of Trustees and I are truly excited to collaborate, once again, with the very talented JIB Productions theater group. Attendees will have an opportunity to view our award-winning holiday exhibit prior to the performance, and meet the artists after the show,” said LMMM Executive Director Susan Gilgore. This new program promises a laughter-filled literary afternoon of heartwarming, seasonal short stories and plays performed by professional actors and delicious refreshments, all in the majestic holiday-decorated Rotunda of the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum. Sure to be included in the program is Wolcott Gibb’s “Ring Out Wild Bells”, a hilarious take on a Christmas pageant at Riverdale Country School that was originally published in The New Yorker magazine. Other pieces include Suzanne Zelitch’s “I Had a Little Dreidel”, a poignant reflection on being your true self even while traveling in uncharted lands; “Geek Week” by Rebecca O’Connell, a holiday tale about two kids who bond at camp and discover they have more than a love of science in common; and Ray Bradbury’s little-known gem, “The Gift”, which shoots us into outer space on Christmas Eve. JIB Productions of Westport and Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum of Norwalk are thrilled to be back together again collaborating on this holiday program. “Seasons Readings has always been an important community event and this year it will be one of our first performances back inside!” says Producer Diana Muller. “We can’t wait to welcome back longtime PWYF fans to the beautiful and historic Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum as well as introduce new audiences to live theater.” Artistic Director Carole Schweid echoes the excitement of working with the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum: “It’s inspiring knowing that the actors will be performing these literary works in such a renowned venue, especially at holiday time. Everyone knows how beautifully decorated the Mansion truly is, but then when you add holiday stories and plays, the magic really takes off.” Tickets are $40 for LMMM members and $50 for non-members, and includes a tour of the Mansion, the performance, and refreshments. Tickets may be purchased through www.lockwoodmathewsmansion.com or by calling 203 – 838-9799 ext. 4. Appropriate for audiences 12 and older. Masks are required with proof of vaccination.
