Details | Hamden Symphony Orchestra is proud to mark their 60th anniversary season with “Homecoming”, on Sunday May 22nd at 3:00 PM. This milestone performance, which will be the Orchestra’s first at Hamden Memorial Town Hall in over two years, will celebrate the volunteer musicians of all backgrounds, past and present, who come together to share the joy of live music. Hamden Symphony is excited to welcome the three talented winners of their long-awaited 52nd Young Musicians Concerto Competition held this past March; Marin Korenaga (Violin), Samantha Kramer (Violin), and Vien Le (Cello), who the Orchestra will accompany in works by Glazunov, Mendelssohn, and Tchaikovsky respectively. “Summon the Heroes”, originally composed by John Williams in 1996 as the official theme for the centennial Olympic Summer Games in Atlanta, has taken on a new meaning in recent years. Hamden Symphony will perform this fanfare in recognition of the first-responders, healthcare workers, scientists and essential workers that have always been there for Hamden and the surrounding communities. The stirring finale of the Eighth Symphony of Antonin Dvorak will round out this festive program. |
