Details | From leaches to bloodletting, to mercury and ‘quacks,’ what really is this buzz term “alternative medicine?” Despite what we are made to believe today, naturopathic medicine predates the current paradigm that is “Western Medicine” and was formerly the dominant sect of medicine in the Western World, even as late as the 1920s. Eastern medicine is 1000’s of years old, even older than naturopathic medicine. But what happened? In this talk, Dr. Lyndsey Maher will touch upon the following: what classifies alternative medicine, including naturopathic medicine and Chinese medicine; their history and roots; what they are about; and how they can be used for simple illnesses, such as the common cold. Dr. Lyndsey Maher is a graduate of the University of Bridgeport’s School of Naturopathic Medicine and Acupuncture Institute. She is a licensed naturopathic doctor in Connecticut, practicing in Hamden, CT. For more info contact Seth Godfrey sgodfrey@nhfpl.org 203 – 946-7450 |
