Details | The Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce is now enrolling professionals from all levels for Leadership Greater New Haven (LGNH). Kicking off on Wednesday, October 19th, LGNH offers interactive learning modules on team management and collaboration, strategic planning, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, and cultural awareness; plus, the sharpening of professional skills, including public speaking, personal branding, customer service, and more. The program is presented by Regional Water Authority. To learn more about the program and hear from past graduates, join the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce for an Informational Open House on Friday, September 23rd from 9am to 10am via Zoom. About Leadership Greater New Haven LGNH offers community leaders and business executives community connections so they may serve as catalysts for change in the Greater New Haven community. Participants leave the six-session program with an insider’s view of regional connections and resources and skills to cultivate professional transformation and mastery of leadership styles. The dates for the 2022 – 2023 Leadership Greater New Haven sessions are as follows: Wednesday, October 19th, 2022, Thursday, October 20th, 2022, Wednesday, November 9th, 2022, Wednesday, December 7th, 2022, Wednesday, January 4th, 2023, and Wednesday, February 8th, 2023. In the past, the Chamber has partnered with organizations such as Cornerstones Northeast Team Building for an experiential, interactive leadership workshop on day one of the program. Team challenge activities will build inclusive team collaboration, enhance communication skills, and expand leadership skills through problem-solving techniques. The 5 leadership practices outlined in the best-selling book, The Leadership Challenge: How to Make Extraordinary Things Happen in Organizations, are discussed. Key decision-makers in the community elaborate on the leadership practices: Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act, and Encourage the Heart. Past speakers have included Michael Piscitelli, Economic Development Director of New Haven, Jennifer Heath, CEO of United Way Greater New Haven, Kevin Rocco, CEO of Biorez, Scott Jackson, Past Chief Administrative Officer for the City of New Haven, William Ginsberg, President & CEO of the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, and Anne-Marie Knight, Executive Director of the Black Business Alliance. Real World Experience During LGNH sessions, participants are divided into teams and assigned to solve a strategic challenge identified by companies or organizations. Through diversity, equity, and inclusion training, participants can immerse themselves by connecting with community business leaders and visiting minority-owned businesses.
