Details | What was a typical working day like on the Osborndale Farm? What duties did local people perform to keep the flowers, the vegetable gardens, and the dairy herd at peak shape? What were the benefits in working for Frances Osborne Kellogg? Learn about the farm and factory workers who made Osbornedale among the top dairy farms in New England and made the Osborne’s factories successful. Highlights will include remembrances featuring a chauffeur, a valued herdsman, and an office secretary (among others). This program is based on research conducted by museum educator Pat Sweeney and will be held in Osborne Homestead Museum on Saturday, October 22 at 1 p.m. Please register by calling 203 – 734-2513. The Osborne Homestead Museum, a facility of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s State Parks & Public Outreach Division, is open for free docent-led and self-guided tours on Thursdays and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. It is located at 500 Hawthorne Avenue off Rte. 34 in Derby, CT. The Kellogg Environmental Center, a facility of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s State Parks & Public Outreach Division, is open 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Tuesday through Saturday.
