Details | Celebrate the Yale Peabody Museum 27th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Legacy of Social & Environmental Justice, either live or virtually, with the New Haven Museum. Masks are required in the museum, and space is limited. Register to attend virtually here: bit.ly/3GrJKlI Register to attend in person here: bit.ly/3WYM9ew The free family programming will include storytellers — Joy Donaldson, Waltrina Kirkland, and Clifton Graves — who will share fables, anecdotes, and stories honoring King’s work and testifying to his impact on the justice movement. Ms. Hanan’s Dance and Beyond will present an interactive performance of cultural dance and drumming from the African diaspora. Kid-friendly activities throughout the museum will be offered by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, the Black Caucus American Library Association, and the Amistad Committee. Peabody Museum scientists will introduce attendees to fascinating specimens from their paleobotany collection. The celebration will continue for adults and young adults on Monday, January 16, 2023, with the Z Experience Poetry Slam, an electrifying spoken-word experience that features award-winning, internationally recognized performers and poets. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.‘s Legacy of Environmental and Social Justice program honors King’s legacy and its continuing impact on artists, advocates, and thought leaders today.
