Details It’s thyme” to grow delicious, fragrant, deer resistant herbs in your own backyard! On May 27, 2023, at 10AM Karel Julian will present It’s Thyme” at the Kellogg Environmental Center. After the presentation, guests can visit the Kellogg Estate gardens during their peak blooming time. 

Karel Julian is a gardening consultant certified by The Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut and will provide information on how to identify, propagate, and harvest herbs from annual, perennial, and container gardens. The presentation is during the Kellogg Estate gardens’ peak blooming time which runs from about May 20 to June 10, 2023. After the presentation, guests can get a Garden Map & Flower Key brochure from the Osborne Homestead Museum or the Kellogg Environmental Center, download the Kellogg Estate audio tour on the iziTRAVEL app, and enjoy the gardens in bloom!

The Osborne Homestead Museum, a facility of the DEEP’s State Parks & Public Outreach Division, is open for free docent-led and self-guided tours on Thursdays and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. It is located at 500 Hawthorne Avenue off Rte. 34 in Derby, CT. The Kellogg Environmental Center, a facility of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s State Parks & Public Outreach Division, is open 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Tuesday through Saturday.
