Details | CONTACT INFORMATION: National Coalition of 100 Black Women – New Haven Metropolitan Chapter Jodyann Prendergast 203 – 216-8683 jprendergast@whiterosehomecareagency.com [New Haven, Connecticut, June 2023] The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, New Haven Metropolitan Chapter, will host its premier fundraising brunch event, Black Excellence, on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at the Waterview in Monroe, CT. The event recognizes national, regional, and local professional, business, and community leaders for their advocacy and leadership roles in the support of African American women and their families. This year’s Black Excellence Award honoree is Sybrina Fulton, President and Founder of the Trayvon Martin Foundation and mother of Trayvon Martin. Since the untimely and senseless death of her son, Ms. Fulton has become a national figure and influencer as a campaigner, activist, author, public speaker, and media commentator. Other event honorees include Scott Esdaile, National NAACP Board Member; Elicia Pegues Spearman, North Atlantic Regional Director of Alpha Kappa Alpha; Katherine Golar, M.D., FACP, Chief Medical Health and Wellness Officer of Optimus Healthcare; and Kara Straun, Director of Programs for The Community Fund for Women & Girls of the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven. The brunch event coordinators are Jodyann Prendergast and Victoria Dancy. Musical entertainment will be performed by award winning violinist Mapy, three-time Grammy Nominated flutist Sherry Winston, and DJ Herman Ham.
