CT Trails Day at the Kellogg Estate

Details Take part in one of many free trail events in Connecticut to celebrate National Trails Day. Enjoy a history walk of the Kellogg Estate on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m! The hike is less than two miles long and is accessible. The terrain is an asphalt pavement and is mostly flat with a gradual incline. The meeting place is at the parking lot of the Kellogg Environmental Center & Osborne Homestead Museum. Please dress appropriately and bring your own water bottle. There is an audio tour at https://izi.travel/en/d420-kellogg-estate-historic-downtown-derby-tour/en, that visitors can download onto their smartphones to accompany on the hike. 

Connecticut Forest & Park Association has been coordinating this special trail weekend since 1993, for visitors to experience the numerous trails around the state. Be a part of the largest trails day celebration in the nation! Attend a history hike! There’s no admission fee. Registration is required and can be done by calling (203)734‑2513 or online at https://trailsday.org. Online registration will open on May 8th. Rain cancels this event. 

The Kellogg Environmental Center, a facility of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s State Parks & Public Outreach Division, is open 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Tuesday through Saturday. It is located at 500 Hawthorne Avenue off Rte. 34 in Derby. The Osborne Homestead Museum, a facility of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s State Parks & Public Outreach Division, is open for free docent-led and self-guided tours on Thursdays and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. It is located at 500 Hawthorne Avenue off Rte. 34 in Derby, CT.
