A Psychedelic Generation Gap: How the Sixties Counterculture Changed America's Future

Wed Aug 21 , 6:30 – 7:30 pm

Hosted by Seymour Public Library
Details The Seymour Public Library welcomes back the Connecticut historian John Cilio. Mr. Cilio will explore in his talk the decisive decade of the Sixties.

During the Sixties the gulf between parents who suffered the hardships of the Depression and sacrifices of WWII and the youths who grew up during a time of peace and rapid economic growth, revealed a tremendous gap in perspectives. Join John Cilio as he highlights how the young people of the 1960s questioned authority and outlooks and created a counterculture generation.
A new psychedelic inspired music delivered lyrics and energy crucial to invigorate political ideas and common experiences. The unrest lasted until the Vietnam War ended and the world began to change.
