Details Explore the world’s biomes at Eco-Holiday at the Osborne Homestead Museum in Derby, Connecticut! The holiday tours will run from November 29 through December 21, 2024. Tours will be offered Thursdays through Sundays from 10AM to 4PM. On Fridays, December 6, 13, and 20, the museum will present Twilight Tours” to display the amber glow of the decorations from 4PM to 7PM

For more than thirty years, volunteers have created the amazing holiday decorations at the museum. These talented and committed decorators are Derby Garden Society, Garden Club of Orange, Garden Club of Woodbridge, Long Hill Garden Club, Naugatuck Garden Club, Olde Ripton Garden Club of Shelton, Women Redefining Retirement Milford, and Ye Olde Kellogg Garden Club. For Eco-Holiday, they will reuse recyclable and throwaway materials to create their masterpieces. Each room will represent eight biomes ranging from rain forest to desert. According to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), biomes are communities of plants and animals living together in a certain kind of climate.” Learn about each biome’s uniqueness, the threats to their existence, and how to protect them. 

Visit the Osborne Homestead Museum and celebrate Eco-Holiday! Admission is FREE and donations are accepted. The Osborne Homestead Museum, a facility of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s State Parks & Public Outreach Division, is open for free docent-led and self-guided tours Thursdays through Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It is located at 500 Hawthorne Avenue off Rte. 34 in Derby, CT. The Kellogg Environmental Center, a facility of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s State Parks & Public Outreach Division, is open 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Tuesday through Saturday.
