Tracing Your Immigrant Ancestors

Tue Dec 3 , 6 – 7 pm

Hosted by Seymour Library
Details Seymour Library welcomes the Genealogist and Board Chair of the Godfrey Library Albert Fiacre. The Godfrey Library is Connecticut’s foremost non-profit Library, specializing in genealogy, family history and local history. Since 1947 the staff at the Godfrey have been offering the public and members help in finding and interpreting genealogical information in their print, digital or one-of-a-kind resources at the Library.

Mr. Fiacre will discuss the sources and materials that exist to help in locating records of original immigrant ancestors that traveled through different regions of America. Useable sources will vary depending upon the time period in which ancestors initially arrived. Records for early colonial ancestors, for eighteenth and early nineteenth century arrivals, and the later nineteenth and twentieth century immigrant records coming for work opportunities, when governmental requirements for record keeping began to appear, will be touched upon.
