| Details | Seymour Library welcomes back the historian John Cilio. Mr. Cilio will talk on Connecticut’s own patriot Roger Sherman. Roger Sherman was invaluable to the young nation as a masterful debater, negotiator and keen legal mind. With his family in New Milford, Connecticut and his work as a lawyer in Litchfield County, Roger Sherman entered politics as he was selected to the Connecticut General assembly in 1755. Sherman, always unwavering in his support for independence from British rule, is the only person to sign all four great state papers of the United States: The Continental Association, The Declaration of Independence, The Articles of Confederation and the Constitution.
